"Oprah" how many times is the last time?

Post by kiki5711 » Wed May 25, 2011 11:17 am

No offense to any of you "Oprah" lovers, but in ALL the years of her show, I have not seen ONE, not even ONE show through. I watched snippets here and there, but got too bored and changed the channel.

Now, with her show ending, (which I thought was ending LAST year) I am bored to death of hearing about her. Just totally bored.

I was watching it Monday and had to turn it off because of all the self worship and ego boosts she was giving herself.
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

I was unaware of any of this until this thread, such are the joys of non-TV watching. :levi:

She's not that bad, guys. She gave cars to her audience.

Besides, this is a country that has Bill O'Reilly, Newt Gingrich, Nancy Grace, Geraldo Rivera and Glenn Beck on air. Oprah should be some way behind them on the shit list.

I think Oprah has done a lot of good for people, but her show drives me crazy.

She promotes lots of woo but thankfully none of it dangerous. She did also give us Dr. Phil, though.

I have avoided her show quite successfully, along with the rest of the genre ......

I enjoyed watching Oprah on occasion. Not all of her shows were boring and stupid. Considering many of you say you never even watched her? My my, you guys can be such snobs sometimes...when it comes to pop culture, it's a knee jerk reaction around here. 8-)

She became an institution in America. She was the 'girlfriend' that many lonely housewives replaced the soap opera with. Along the way those women came out with their sexual abuse stories, lost weight, got emotional and physical self help, starting reading again,...I think that's a good thing, and it certainly was an improvement over watching mindless soap operas.

Whether or not you like her, she has had a huge influence in our culture, and on the whole I would agree with Twofer that she has done a lot of good with her show and her billions.
Atheists have always argued that this world is all that we have, and that our duty is to one another to make the very most and best of it. ~Christopher Hitchens~

I am wondering if after her show is done if she will give away a lot of her money. I am also thinking of writing her and asking for her to pay for my grad school.
