And thus we see the problem with ignorant leaders. They can be so embarrassing. Chavez is obviously intelligent, as he as slyly maneuvered to power and retained it, but such a stupid statement cries out about his lack of education. He has become a laughingstock in the Latin American press. (Unable to believe he would say something so stupid I decided to verify with non-Fox sources, and yeah the report is accurate if La Nacion and others are to be believed, along with the video)

Obviously he is aiming the comments at Venezualan Peasants - who probably did understand that his statements on Mars were not meant litterally (different cultures do have different ways of communicating in addition to using funny languages). If his comments had been aimed at Americans he would probably have phrased things differently - and used a crayon and a glove puppet. and words with less than 2 sylabbles. or letters. Like Obama and Palin do.
