Project 2025:
1.
But on page 664 -

"The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
should be dismantled and many of its functions eliminated, sent to other
agencies, privatized, or placed under the control of states and territories."

Ok... You would think for a bunch of money driven people the protection of property would be reason enough to keep NOAA.

But the NOAA mandate, unfortunately is intimately tied up with Climate Change.

2. And, by the way... Here's the reason they want to kill NOAA.

"Together, these form a colossal operation that has become one of the main
drivers of the climate change alarm industry and, as such, is harmful to future U.S. prosperity."

So, you heard it here, the GOP and Project 20 25 say climate change is not happening. La. La. La.

The Matt Gaetz district is deeply red. It has never voted for a Democrat for president. There was one likeable Democrat there for congress, 1980s and 1990s. Also one in the 60s. Bob Sikes. Election soon.

Interesting
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Sikes
Robert Lee Fulton Sikes (June 3, 1906 – September 28, 1994) was an American politician of the Democratic Party who represented the Florida Panhandle in the United States House of Representatives from 1941 to 1979, with a brief break in 1944 and 1945 for service during World War II.

He served during a long period in which Florida was effectively a one-party state dominated by Democrats, as the Republican Party had been weakened by the disfranchisement of African Americans by racist policies and Jim Crow laws. The Republican Party began a resurgence in the 1970s.

In 1975 Sikes was accused by Common Cause of financial misconduct and was investigated and censured by the House in 1976. He did not seek re-election in 1978

Drilling for oil will get us cheaper eggs.
SANDRA SMITH (CO-ANCHOR): Speaking of Main Street, a lot of people in the country are talking about eggs and the lack thereof right now. I have a sister who lives in Austin, Texas. They said they can't find eggs anywhere, Costco and beyond. Although, I went and looked for her, you can go about 30 minutes and you can find eggs on the shelf. But egg prices, there's no doubt, they are way up. I know anybody who does their grocery store shopping that's listening to this are going, they're crazy. In fact, the prices that we have here, that's an average, I feel like most people are going, "the eggs I see on my shelf are way more expensive."

MARK TEPPER (GUEST): And I enjoy my eggs, too. So, this is certainly an issue. Look, I think two things at play here. Number one, the bird flu issue is obviously a concern. Twenty million chickens, egg producing chickens were slaughtered in the fourth quarter of last year. So, that supply, and that obviously impacts supply and demand. But the other issue is that grocery inflation tends to be very sticky. It's not all that often that once prices reach a certain level, and suddenly there is more supply and less demand, that those prices come back down. So, that presents an issue as well.

But look, I think the best solution for us to bring down, or do our best to at least moderate food inflation is to drill, baby, drill, produce more energy, reduce the cost of gas and diesel, and then obviously stop the reckless spending.

On the topic of Democrats somehow recovering 2028. First post offered hope.
Then:
Y’all are putting the cart before the horse. 30% of voters are unabashed racists and homophobes, and 21% are idiots who couldn’t empty piss out of a boot with the instructions on the bottom. You aren’t going to change the votes of the hateful bigots, so winning elections depends on manipulating the idiots. You can’t reason an idiot out of a position they didn’t use reason to get to in the first place. They have demonstrated they only respond to greed, fear and intimidation. If Democrats aren’t willing to do what it takes to do that, making plans to fix the damage Trump will inflict is pointless. I am pessimistic about our chances, but hope to be pleasantly surprised.

That's a bullshit take in my opinion. The Democrats have been chasing the Overton window they see the Trumpists pulling further to the right instead of even attempting to pull in the opposite direction. The 'bipartisan' immigration bill that Trump decreed be killed was in reality almost entirely guided by the pernicious and unrealistic anti-immigrant agenda that MAGA is built on. The Democrats were willing to sign onto it though, maybe because they hear the MAGAs yelling and mistake that for the 'mood of the nation' or something.

In another thread I posted Senator Sanders's ideas for how to move the party forward.
  • Lower the cost of prescription drugs;
  • Paid family and medical leave;
  • Reform the food industry;
  • Raise the minimum wage to a living wage;
  • Lower the workweek to 32 hours with no loss of pay;
  • Combat the epidemic of loneliness, isolation, and mental illness;
  • Address the climate and environmental crisis; and
  • Create a high-quality public education system.
Supposedly the Democratic Party aspires to present an alternative to Trumpism but I'd be surprised if that perpetually and gratuitously docile organization puts appreciable effort into anything along those lines.

The excuse is that they have not had the votes to raise minimum wage. Manchin and Sinema would have sunk it.

There would have had to be exceptions to minimum wage, such as camp counselors at summer camps. They get about 5 dollars an hour.

I do not have hopes of converting these people. Drifting off into disinterest is the best we can hope.

They never thought their votes mattered. They may not give up.
