Closet racialism and the Trump victory in the USA

All the polls were pointing to a marginal Kamala win rather than a significant Trump landslide. Why? I can think of many reasons but the most obvious is closet racialism. Can this be confirmed? Dealt with in terms of social policy?

I think polling is challenging when you don't have compulsory voting.

While it was a dismayingly solid win it wasn't a fucking 'landslide.' The less gullible parts of the country, less willing to accept authoritarians who stoke racial animus, not so dominated by ignorant jingoism and insularity, those parts were won by Harris.

In the popular vote count, Trump now has dropped under 50%. Harris will wind up losing the popular vote by around 1.5%. The myopic media narrative of "decisive victory' is looking more hollow as the count winds down. Not that it will stop said narrative, nor Trump and his stooges claiming a 'mandate.'
