Genuinely tragic and horrifying though not surprising, having been predicted by professionals in the field. She wasn't the first, will not be the last, and things can certainly get worse. Republicans will fight any attempt in the US Congress to recognise a national right to bodily autonomy. They worked for decades to get this result and dismayingly it may take a similar length of time to overturn it.

If Trump gets back into office it seems likely JD Vance will warrant a thread of his own. He's competing with the likes of Ted Cruz for the most abominable fabulizing as they tug their greasy forelocks to the boss. The egregious bronzer-laden coprolite has been howling for the scalps of TV networks ('revoke their licence!!') for weeks so naturally Vance steps forward to pay homage to his boss's unwavering support for free speech.
