I'm "mostly meh" about a politician wanting to hide an extramarital affair when seeking election. The financial irregularities are a misdemeanor at best. What this circus is doing though is giving Trump ample scope to frame this as a persecution rather than a prosecution, which I'm sure tallies as well with both Trumpsters and the Trump adjacent as with the Republicans who've lined up to support him in court and 'coincidentally' have their faces associated with the media coverage each day.

Trump and Foxnews succeed! The US is in a stinking mess! Going downhill fast!
The poll highlighted many misconceptions people have about the economy, including:

55% believe the economy is shrinking, and 56% think the US is experiencing a recession, though the broadest measure of the economy, gross domestic product (GDP), has been growing.
49% believe the S&P 500 stock market index is down for the year, though the index went up about 24% in 2023 and is up more than 12% this year.
49% believe that unemployment is at a 50-year high, though the unemployment rate has been under 4%, a near 50-year low.

The crimes alleged in the case are on their face misdemeanors. However, they were committed in pursuit of felonious ends. Michael Cohen went to prison for his part in carrying out Trump's wishes in this case--Trump was an unindicted co-conspirator ('Individual 1') in Cohen's trial.
Although this is commonly referred to as a “hush money” trial, none of these charges are about hush money: it’s where the hush money came from, how it got to where it was intended to go, and why it needed to be paid. So, it would be more accurate to say this is a slush money case because Trump is alleged to have used his corporate, rather than his personal, accounts as a slush fund for making problems go away. Had he used his own funds, and concealed the payments, it is likely these charges would never have been filed.

But he’s a cheapskate, and he did, and they were.

... Trump is being prosecuted because of crimes he has not yet been charged with. The crimes are: committing a fraud on the American public by conspiring to hide a sexual encounter that might have influenced voters; by failing to disclose this payment in his 2017 annual financial disclosure; and by making an unreported contribution to his own political campaign. These are felonies, and under New York State law, misdemeanors in pursuit of a larger crime or crimes are felonies. This, Alvin Bragg’s theory of the case transforms each of the 34 misdemeanors into felonies.

The biggest squeeze on low- and middle-class incomes since the Great Depression sure feels like a recession, regardless of what the GDP top-line is. Similarly, unprecedented levels of personal debt and an incredibly insecure labour market also makes if feel like the economy is tanking and unemployment is rising. I mean, if GDP is up who's getting their hands on the money.

She can't run the fear of foreigners agenda. So it is socialism.
Nikki Haley: This election is a choice between the left's socialist polices and our fight for freedom.

We can't allow China to continue infiltrating our schools and economy, and we can't allow Joe Biden to run our country into the ground.

Granite Staters get it. Let's shake up DC!
(She has delegates to the convention. I guess they go to Trump)

I think Biden crushes Trump. I don't believe for a second Trump has added voters since last time. :dunno:

CNN: Trump left the stage after 34 minutes, marking one of his shortest campaign speeches to date. The Libertarian Party is expected to select its presidential nominee Sunday.

One of Trump’s few loud applause lines Saturday came when he announced that if elected, he would commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht, the creator of the underground website Silk Road, which let users anonymously buy and sell anything from drugs to hacking tutorials. Ulbricht was sentenced to life in prison in 2015 following his conviction on seven counts..ranging from money laundering to...blabla

In a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, Biden paid tribute to the fallen as heroes who sacrificed themselves in the service of American democracy and ideals. Meanwhile, Trump, taking to his Truth Social site, took a very different tack – bestowing holiday wishes on those he branded “human scum” and accused them of trying to destroy the country.

“Happy Memorial Day to All, including the Human Scum that is working so hard to destroy our Once Great Country, & to the Radical Left, Trump Hating Federal Judge in New York that presided over, get this, TWO separate trials, that awarded a woman, who I never met before (a quick handshake at a celebrity event, 25 years ago, doesn’t count!), 91 MILLION DOLLARS for ‘DEFAMATION,’” he wrote.
It's a dead people day but no need to mention those losers.
