But he's not trying to negotiate another deal.
Because he knows he can’t get the one he wants I suspect. So...crash and burn it seems.

Johnson government will prorogue Parliament at the end of proceedings tonight. This pretty much puts the kaibosh on MPs talking or doing anything about things until jut before B-day, when they'll get four days of debate ... unless the government presents its resignation to the Queen in order to spark a general election without recourse to a Confidence vote or the Fixed Term Parliament Act. Now let's sit back and enjoy the ride.

Well that’s Parliament shut for five weeks.

And with the departure of the only entertainment in the whole sorry saga - the departure of John Bercow.

Sounds like a rational course to me. What you gonna do?
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

the 2nd half of october promises to be interesting, and the handling of the ensuing chaos by the new European Commission from November 1 onward is going to be interesting too.

Who will be the new speaker? And will it be possible to find someone as hilarious as the current guy? :ask:

Several potential runners have been floated, none of who are well known to the public, except potentially Harriet Harmon, who was very temporarily leader of the Labour Party when Gordon Brown stepped down. I seem to recall she might be the longest serving female MP too.

Personally I don’t think she has the oomph for the job though.

Boris Johnson’s suspension of the UK Parliament is unlawful, Scotland’s highest civil court has ruled.
Scottish judges rule Parliament suspension is unlawful https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-49661855

A panel of three judges at the Court of Session found in favour of a cross-party group of politicians who were challenging the prime minister's move.
The decision overturns an earlier ruling from the court, which said last week Mr Johnson had not broken the law.
But it will not immediately affect the current suspension of Parliament, which started in the early hours of Tuesday.
This is because no order has been given by the court to cancel the suspension ahead of a full hearing at the Supreme Court in London which starts on Tuesday of next week.

Well the Scottish judges are of the view that because there is a disagreement it should now go to the UK Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court might even get around to a judgement before Oct 14th.

Time to start panic buying?
Defra refuses to give details on no-deal Brexit food supply disruptions

Ministers have refused to disclose details about their discussions with local authorities and the food industry over possible disruptions to food supplies in a no-deal Brexit, arguing the information could damage negotiations with the EU.

The Green MP Caroline Lucas, who unsuccessfully sought the information in parliament and then via a freedom of information (FOI) request, said it was “reckless and irresponsible” for ministers to use this argument to withhold potentially vital facts from the public.

The ruling, in which the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) argued there was “a strong public interest” in keeping the information secret, follows the release of documents outlining the government’s planning assumptions for its no-deal Brexit preparation plan, called Operation Yellowhammer...
