Drop medicine, not bombs

Post by Blind groper » Wed Sep 04, 2013 8:19 pm

The latest New Scientist magazine (31 August) discusses the chemical weapons situation in Syria, and suggests that the west should be providing medicines. Apparently, against the gas Sarin, an injection of atropine works wonders, and is a true antidote. If the peoples of Syria had widespread access to atropine, hundreds or thousands of lives might be saved.

So the question is, should the west be sending medicines to Syria rather than discussing military strikes?

Why not do both? Why does it have to be an either-or scenario?

And there are many other ways of killing people, as the casualty figures in Syria (and elsewhere) prove.

I'd like to drop Blind Groper out of a plane over Syria.

I'd like to similarly repatriate every detainee at Gitmo to their home nation, from 35,000 feet, in nothing but a big black hijab. Let Allah save them if He wants them to fight again.

The funny thing with nerve gas antidotes, is that the antidote can be dangerous if you are not poisoned.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.
