I think that language has a lot to do with interfering in our relationship to direct experience. A simple thing like metaphor will allows you to go to a place and say 'this is like that'. Well, this isn't like that. This is like this.

There'll be absolute mayhem in China when the game folds. Half the cities will be invaded by country dwellers and half the country the reverse. It'll be a bloodbath and return to hardline communist rule over that way. :coffee:
Thank god they've built about 24 complete cities ready for 1,000,000 people each with less than 30,000 people living in each then eh?

You'd almost think the Chinese government was planning ahead and intend to ride the bullet? :coffee:

There can be NO economic collapse without a cheese option! How can you have an economic collapse without a cheese option? :nono:

People with IQ above 150 are about the only ones with wage gains outpacing inflation in the U.S. It's causing not a little antielitism and antiintellectualism.
No, there is an absolutely huge separation between elitism and intellectualism. You absolutely do not have to have a high IQ to be in the elite group with rapidly increasing income, and the correlation is even weaker, pretty much non-existent, when it comes to wealth increase via other means (shares, investments etc) which is where the majority of social stratification has come from over the last 30 years. The most important factor in increasing wealth at the moment is already having wealth. You might like to think you live in a meritocracy, but you really don't.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

Wealth is a matter of opinion. A glass of water is worth a lot of cash after three weeks lost in the desert. As for elites - it is well known that upwards of 150 IQ means ordinary people are like insects only dumber.

That is an utterly absurd statement.

I don't think there will be a collapse until we have a few years of poor harvests World wide, something that happens every century or so. And perhaps over due.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Thus why I mentioned both separately.

It's also to be noted that neither elitism nor intellectualism are directly tied to intelligence; that's just how the public is reacting.
