Zombie Counter-Protest Keeps Westboro Baptist Church Away From Military Base
If there’s one thing that everybody can agree upon, it’s that the Westboro Baptist Church is awful. In fact, even zombies have turned on the noxious congregation, who regularly picket military funerals because they believe U.S. combat deaths are God’s punishment for America’s tolerant policies toward homosexuality.
About 300 protesters decked out like “The Walking Dead” showed up last week to counter-protest a Westboro appearance at Fort Lewis in Dupont, WA.
27-year-old Melissa Neace organized the event through the Facebook group “Zombie’ing Westboro Baptist Church AWAY from Fort Lewis!”
“We wanted to turn something negative around, into something people could laugh at and poke fun at,” Neace said in an interview. “It was the easiest way to divert attention from something so hateful.”
According to reports, the mass of zombies prevented the eight Westboro members who had showed up from spreading their message of extreme intolerance inside of the base. However, in an act of restraint, the zombies decided not to eat the Westboro protesters’ brains. Check out more photos from the happening below.
