Pity the NLRB is prohibiting Boeing from opening their second assembly line and hiring more workers.

According to the Associated Press, the number is 800. " Airlines have ordered more than 800 of the planes that will compete with the Airbus A350." http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/ ... TE=DEFAULT
800 have been ordere thus far, but none this year, and there have been cancellations this year. Most of the orders happened years ago.

It will take Boeing about a decade to make all the planes that have already been ordered. Given the airlines aren't going to get newly ordered planes for 10 years, they're in no rush to place the orders.

I am guessing the 800 includes options / provisional orders - allows airlines (and leasing companies) to get into the Q, but not be committed to buy.

Am sure Boeing and Airbus are very comfortable (from past experiance) that in practice they do convert enough of the provisional orders into actual sales - even if not all to the original orderers or within the expected timeframe.

Five of these things were delivered to Nippon Airlines. Anyone fly on one yet? I hear they are quite nice.

United ordered about 50 of these things. I wonder when they will be delivered?
