Romantic nonsense. The Blues hadn't gone anywhere, it was in rude health. All the British revival did was open up a new market.

Got the white kids into it. The Stones did it for me, back in the 4th grade, got into Yardbirds through them.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

What's more, nobody was as successful spreading the blues to the European bubblegum crowd as the Rolling Stones. Some of their early hits may as well have been cut in Detroit's blues studios and venues.
So you talk about mobs and the working classes as if they were the question. You've got that eternal idiotic idea that if anarchy came it would come from the poor. Why should it? The poor have been rebels, but they have never been anarchists; they have more interest than anyone else in there being some decent government. The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all. Aristocrats were always anarchists. - G.K. Chesterton

The Stones got me into Rock, but I really tuned into the Blues when I saw Furry Lewis back in the '70's. He was old and not real focused, but there was a point in the show when he caught fire, and that's all it took.

Since I've been posting a lot by Fiodor Chistyakov, here is a bluesy piece.

I love Chamipon Jack. I've got an album called "Blues at Montreau". Champion Jack, KIng Curtis, and Cornell Dupree did an unrehearsed show in '71 at the Montreaux Blues Festival, they blew the doors off.
