Earworms you have known
OK, mostly of them tend to be catchy tunes of one sort or another, but ever since I watched Radiohead's set at Glastonbury last week (one of my favourite bands) Karma Police will not get out of my bloody head! Hardly catchy!
Is anyone else plagued by such phenemononens?

All the time. I was recently afflicted by the opening of Strauss' Don Juan.
Dom de-dommmm dommmm. Dom de-dommmm dom dom-de-dommmmmm!

Simply altering a word in the song stops them. Never get past three or four runs with me.

I've found a few stanza's of The Birdie Song is often enough to wipe the slate clean.
But imagine The Horror of The Birdie Song being your earworm. Here you go Rum - something to practice.

Re: Earworms you have known
I've known a fair few in my time. But now I have special drops to put in my ears in order to prevent them
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

When I saw this thread, I dreaded that it was just going to be another vehicle for you to spam us with random crap music videos. But I'm pleasantly surprised!Crumple wrote:Simply altering a word in the song stops them. Never get past three or four runs with me.
edit: oh, looks like Sean has decided to take advantage of your weakness while you had a moment of lucidity..

I want my words to lodge in your subconscious. You'd think of something to say and forget what I said if it was too easy. After your neurons not your ego....pErvin wrote:When I saw this thread, I dreaded that it was just going to be another vehicle for you to spam us with random crap music videos. Re: Earworms you have known
I can play almost all of Vivaldi's bassoon concerto RV483 first allegro in my head. I memorized it in 1970.

I could hum a few bars of the other movements.

Re: Earworms you have known
We really don't want to know what goes on in your head Tatty.
I have a real earworm today. An old tune called 'Like Someone In Love'. The first line is going round and round... "...lately I find myself out gazing at stars, hearing guitars, like someone in love..."
Christ, even the person 'hearing guitars' in the song is talking about an earworm. That so meta man - like an earworm inception.
