Marque Coy (Marqueson) was Frank' Monitor engineer. And later Joe's Garage studio sound boss.
From: Bill Lantz <lantz@primenet.com>
Marque told me that this song had another working title (I've since forgotten what he told me dammit) but one night on the 82 tour, as the band was coming back to do encores, Marque had hung a rubber chicken on one of the mic stands during the break. As the band came back out, they saw it, and the song became Marqueson's Chicken.

Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late
Turn stone to bread, said Daemon Duncetan
Turn stone to bread right away...

Pretty mean post. Zappa was a bit of a cunt - no doubt about it. Sexist as fuck too - misogynistic even.Forty Two wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 6:14 pmFrank Zappa? Sexist.https://www.sfgate.com/books/article/Fr ... 661500.php and https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic ... zvIk_vF9F0
His music transcends all of that.

I wasn't aware there was a Zappa fan 'type'. Here in the UK I only know a couple and they seem as decent and likeable as me.Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 7:38 pmHis fans have always put me off his music. No offense Rum, and I know better.

Re: The Frank Zappa thread
I identify with his view on the American educational system. I am trying to innoculate my kids against school, and hopefully I will have the wherewithal to make sure they don't have to spend much time in the public system (in the US we call the state run schools "public").
Viewing the system as it is, it seems as if nothing could hardly crush a child's spirit and desire for learning than the current public school system. Rows of kids being indoctrinated, shoved into categories, placed on "tracks" and little regard given for actual learning.
I've seen the evolution since the 1970s. The curriculum is dumbed down. Useful courses eliminated. Increased rigidity and reduced individuality. Reduced independence and independent though. If Zappa hated the system in the 60s and 70s, then I submit he would be positively sickened by what we have today.

That's bull. If you type in 'Beatles fans suck' you get as many links. The man was a phenomenon but the less knowledgeable and creatively minded, musically speaking just don't get him it seems.Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 7:47 pmyou're joking Rum. Google zappa fans suck and free yourself...

Re: The Frank Zappa thread
Zappa had mostly stuff to say about Republicans and televangelists. But then Tipper Gore wanted to put warning labels on his CDs.
