In my experience it's pretty much pot luck. Head for the 'Historic French Quarter' and see what's going on. You can't move for jazz down there.

Preservation Hall is pretty small, fills up. I sat outside and listened to it for half an hour, as we could not get in to sit.

Jaco on bass. There were no fretless basses sold at that time, Jaco had the frets ripped out. Instrument looks like it has been through a lot
