Country music

Post by Tero » Sun Jul 24, 2011 8:06 pm

I can drive 50 miles out of the city, "country" is all I will hear. But I don't like any modern country. This is the real thing:

Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late

Turn stone to bread, said Daemon Duncetan
Turn stone to bread right away...

Sorry, nothing personal I assure you, but I've noted elsewhere that "country" music reminds me of nothing but violence and stupidity. Just me, of course. If a certain person had a been Mozart fan the same thing would have happened I guess.

I like some Country music.

Dysfunctional relationships is a common theme in the lyrics, but I still like some of it--even Garth. :what?:

Let me go find some of my favorites.

Well, sure they are stupid. You can just lay Country Music and Bible Belt on top of each other. Except for Canada. They love Country. They don't even know Rush in half of Canada.

I really like "Ring of Fire", "Wolverton Mountain", "Battle of New Orleans", and a few others. But I'm ready to kill by the time they're over.

I was raised on the stuff and had a resurgence of interest in the 80's.
I think some of the 80's country is good, especially when it has a loping rhythm.

Johnny was such a mess, at least he seems to have done something a bit right, in personal life.

I don't much care for women singers, but they seem OK in country, and Bonnie Raitt on the blues side.

Not really Country, but Deborah Holland's voice always sounded to me like it had a Country-like twang to it.

Anyway the only real Country, as opposed to Country-flavored music, I could ever stand was Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.
