Speaking of JC, you can have the original Stones version of this song:

... or Johnny's up tempo foot-stomping version.

God has no place within these walls, just like facts have no place within organized religion. - Superintendent Chalmers

It's not up to us to choose which laws we want to obey. If it were, I'd kill everyone who looked at me cock-eyed! - Rex Banner

The Bluebird of Happiness long absent from his life, Ned is visited by the Chicken of Depression. - Gary Larson

Do you know how many different versions of I'm so Lonesome I Could Cry there are?
Whole bunches.

I am at work and have to listen to all this through the tiny tinny speaker with no volume in the tower.
I won't get a good listen until I get on my own machine at home.

Oh BTW, in case anyone cares, I have two tickets to a Mark Chestnut concert on Saturday Aug 6th, it will be outdoor at the Legion Ball Field in Washoe Park. I need a date.

Ringo was a bit country. He wanted to emigrate to Texas.

Try this (ahem) Russian link, which seems to be missing that intro. It could be a single edit:

Someone (possibly an academic) once discovered that there was as a certain correlation between country music and morbidly depressing (or just plain maudlin) subject matter.

Having seen documentaries on the life and times of Hank Williams, Gram Parsons, etc., I'm not really surprised.

I've posted this before, but I'll post it again:

One of my favorite local stations is WWHP-FM otherwise known as The Whip, they also stream globally.

"Playing the best in blues, bluegrass, alternative and traditional country, rock, gospel and American Roots music"
http://wwhp.com/

Even the commercials have a cheezy charm as they are mostly made in house. The schedule is here, http://wwhp.com/program.html all times +6 GMT.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
-Mr P

The Net is best considered analogous to communication with disincarnate intelligences. As any neophyte would tell you. Do not invoke that which you have no facility to banish.

I can't listen to music at all ATM-- I'm at J's office (hello, air-conditioning!) and none of the computers have speakers. :(

I'm excited to give this thread a listen when I get home.

Can you consider Lucinda Williams Country? I love her.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.
