Cool music for atheists

Post by Enemy combatant » Tue Dec 21, 2010 11:44 pm

I've always disliked the negative connotations associated with the word "atheist". To me, It just means "normal" or "unaffected by dogma". Anyway, I've recently stumbled across some music that I thought was worth sharing. Not strictly because of the lyrical relevance to my personal beliefs/opinions/reality etc, but because I enjoy good music. The music always strikes me first. Then if I realize that the lyrics are about something completely inane, I move on. These are exceptions:

Black sleep of Kali - Our slow decay - http://www.mediafire.com/?eca82afok75v157

I grew up in the 90s. So maybe I'm more prone to this style. Lyrically, it's unlike anything I've heard.

Dan Sartain - Atheist funeral - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DSRJW1FH

This is just one song from the album.
If you enjoy this style, or creativity in general, you might like the rest of the album. Although I was unable to find it in it's entirety at the time of this post.

I think I'm having some issue with my computer...I downloaded the file, but it wouldn't play. :(

I also enjoy this song so very much. It is a tribute to the Tool song " the patient" performed by the string quartet: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KQJO4MO3

Also, if you ever experience trouble playing any kind of content on your computer, this codec pack really helps: Windows 7 http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.p ... 536523f7ee

Okay. Last post. If anyone enjoys black metal at all, this band might be for you. These guys stand out a bit, as they don't sing about fucking Norse mythology, sounding like it was recorded through a tin can in a Scandinavian forest. This band is called Nachtmystium and they are cool. I like other "black metal" bands too but these guys stand out above the rest. Another thing, I particularly dislike it when someone hops in my car and assumes since I'm listening to black metal, that I pray to fucking Oden or something. It's art man. It's mythology. And most importantly, it's rebellion. Two of my favorites: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G8WQX6IC

Oh, and this is pretty funny: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OLL3NLMD

And this is also cool. And sad. But awesome: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=C3MU1PXK

Alright, enough drunken off topic posting for me...

Around here, drunken, off-topic posting is the norm. :hehe:

Thanks for the recommendations and the links Enemy.

When it comes to music, though, good is good. It doesn't matter if the composers or performers are atheist or not. I'm not thinking about that when I listen.

Still had trouble with the files because of some other issue that recently came about when my husband was fucking around with something. ;ob;

But I did some stuff on youtube:

Pretty cool stuff, I enjoyed it all, particularly The String Quartet piece.

That is not music, it is video game sound accompaniment.
And you are correct, it isn't my type lol.
