Still waiting to get to listen to the HD version of "Stairway to Heaven" that charlou posted in the old thread. The kids have been ill (either the one or the other) on and off for a week, so their voice books is pretty much all I hear now. The books are good, though, and I like hearing the stories again and again. Right now they are over half-way through "Princess Academy".
I'll admit I'm drunk.. on prescription meds that explicitly state DO NOT TAKE WITH ALCOHOL.. but I've utterly failed to parse this paragraph. :|

Your kids have 'voice books'? What are voice books and what do they have to do with the HD version of Stairway to Heaven?
The kids have CDs, where one or more people read a book (hence the name "voice book" - also known as "audio book"). One book is 5-8 CDs long. When they use the stereo system, I can't. Does that clear it up?

For examples of commercial voice books, check e.g. here: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_ ... udio+books

For examples of legally free (old enough = out of copyright) voice books (as MP3 and OGG files), check here: http://librivox.org/newcatalog/search.p ... ion=Search

Some of my all-time favorites include:

http://librivox.org/the-adventures-of-h ... version-2/
http://librivox.org/around-the-world-in ... s-verne-2/
http://librivox.org/the-wouldbegoods-by-edith-nesbit/

Enjoy!
oh I see. Yes, I have several gigabytes of audiobooks.. about 100 gigs or so I guess.

I thought you meant they had some sort of new fandangled thingamaboobly that resembled a book in which they'd record whatever they wanted - an audio diary if you like. I get it now, but I have an excuse - I was very, very drunk. :shiver:

I sort of figured that... :hehe:
"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." - Maureen J

I was just flicking through channels when I came upon someone murdering this classic:

... apparently it was Andrea Corr, someone with a long history of such sacrilege.

The Blue Nile can't be improved upon, they were flipping anal with their music. It's like taking a Da Vinci and painting over it. :smoke:

Had to pad out an amazon order so I could get the free shipping. Just ordered this, my favorite Dire Straights album:

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.
