Personally I really like:

Amon AMarth
Avantasia
Ayreon
Blind Guardian
Dream Theater
Edguy
Eluveitie
Elvenking
Helloween
Iron Maiden
Kamelot
Korpiklaani
Megadeth
Metallica
Moonsorrow
Nightwish
Nile
Opeth
Sonata Arctica
Stolen Babies
Van Canto
Winterson

I like a lot of other styles and artists but these are the ones I have playlists for in itunes (where I was listing them from), so it's not really complete.

But how many here have heard of Van Canto? I find them simply amazing. They are nearly a capella--they have a drummer but they sing everything else. I have posted one of their original songs (The Mission) and a cover so you can see how they sing the instrument parts.

I am kind of obsessed with Jørn.

See here's Jørn, and there's me
:qoti:
in my little dream world

Take Jade's list and add Tyr and probably some others i can't think of atm and you've got my list for metal. Sonata Arctica is great. I've been listening to a lot of Eluveitie lately, ♥ to them. Ooh, and i have to add Arch Enemy too.
