Lennon was brilliant but like everyone else he would have turned completely crap.

Double Fantasy was a bucket of shit - if Cliff Richard, Phil Collins or (shudder) Paul McCartney had recorded songs like Woman or Beautiful Boy they would have been slammed for releasing sentimental, worthless crap. Lennon, however, was given a free pass because he was "cool" (TM) - even more so after his death.
