No, I wasn't that optimistic. It was quickly followed by other thoughts. :fp:

Sometimes man bites dog, but only in America does dog shoot man.

Dog shoots man in US while ‘horsing around’ with owner on sofa
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/0 ... wner-sofa/
A dog accidentally shot his owner in the leg while the two were “horsing around” on a sofa on Wednesday.

Richard Remme was playing with his pitbull Labrador cross-breed, Balew, at his home in Fort Dodge, Iowa, when he started to feel a burning sensation.

In the rough-and-tumble the pet had managed to knock the safety on the Ruger 9mm pistol his owner was carrying and then hit the trigger with his paw.

Mr Remme, 51, told The Messenger: “I was lying on the couch, and we were horsing around, me and the dog. And I was tossing him off my lap, and he was jumping back on my lap.

“And I carry in a belly band, under my bib overalls. And apparently he bumped the safety one time, and when he bounded back over one of his toes went right down into the trigger guard.

“It has a trigger safety as well as a thumb safety, and he managed to hit both of them, and it discharged and went into my leg, did no major damage to anything.”

Mr Remme said he did not realise he had been shot a first but then saw his trouser leg was turning purple and called 911.

He added that his loyal pet was distressed to learn that he had unwittingly harmed his master.

“The dog’s a big wuss,” he Mr Remme. "The poor dog laid down beside me and cried, because he thought he was in trouble for doing something wrong. He’s a pit lab mix. He’s afraid of the dark, he’s afraid of water.”

The Fort Dodge Police Department were also called to the scene but soon determined the incident was accidental.

In a statement, the department said: “Mr Remme had a non life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper right thigh.

“The incident was determined to be an accident. Mr Remme was taken by Unity Point ambulance to the hospital for his injury.”

Tossing the dog off his lap eh? Fucking pervert.

BTW: Is a Ruger a knock-off Luger, the small arms equivalent of a Folex?

I used to have a lovely little Ruger .22 semi-automatic, which was the death of many a bunny...

Handed it in in the gun amnesty years ago, which co-incided with my eyes getting a little dodgy for really accurate shooting...

Whenever I hear the word Ruger, I reach for my Luger.
