Yes. In every political change, there comes a tipping point. This was it. Now, it will take about 100 years to collect even half the guns.

Re: Only in America
As the Dutch say "Dweilen met de kraan open". (Mopping up with the tap running). It will be virtually impossible to remove guns from American society. The whole American political system will have to change first. The inequality in society would need to rebalanced I cant see the Koch bros rolling over quietly.
There is just too much wrong with American society. The gun problem is only one facet and solving it (if that was ever possible) would not solve society.

Re: Only in America
There has been some success in Massachusetts (some paperwork for getting gun, Illegal to possess magazines of over 10 rounds capacity. Pre-ban magazines manufactured before September 13, 1994 are exempt from this restriction.) . State by state you can go about it. We will then end up with 90% of the guns centered in Idaho and Montana. Win win!

Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state

Re: Only in America
Gun hating billionaires!
CNNTo hear the National Rifle Association tell it, Saturday's March for Our Lives was orchestrated by billionaires and Hollywood to push an anti-gun agenda.
On Facebook Saturday morning, the NRA posted a short membership-drive video along with a brief message.
"Stand and Fight for our Kids' Safety by Joining NRA," it said. "Today's protests aren't spontaneous. Gun-hating billionaires and Hollywood elites are manipulating and exploiting children as part of their plan to DESTROY the Second Amendment and strip us of our right to defend ourselves and our loved ones."

I'm not going to discuss gun control with people who eat detergent pods.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Re: Only in America
That is just the problem lak and the elephant in the room; American society. The gun problem is just a facet of what is wrong in America. There is more than the 2nd amendment that has to be changed; the political system, inequality, education and of course health. The gun problem is one of the least problems.laklak wrote:I'm not going to discuss gun control with people who eat detergent pods.
First educate your people first and change attitudes within society. Have the rich people pay what they should be paying in taxes. Give them a good health system and stop playing politics with it. Without improving the conditions of society how are you going to change attitudes towards guns? You wont.

It’s the Internet. It ruined everything. More Internet—> more wanking, more stupidity. And everything is now spying. And a conspiracy.

Re: Only in America
The high number of privately owned guns is a manifestation of a much bigger problem: The readiness to attempt solving problems with violence. The US gained independence through war. Disagreement about slavery resulted in a civil war that cost the lives of more US citizens than were lost in all other wars the US fought in since. Four of its presidents were assassinated by citizens who disagreed with them, and I don't know how many more politicians and activists were shot for the same reason.
If you took all privately owned firearms out of circulation the murder rate would drop, but not significantly. People would achieve the same ends by other means. That was the experience in Australia anyway, when 20% of privately owned guns were bought by the government and destroyed. Murder by firearm dropped a lot, but overall murder rates dropped at the same rate after the buyback scheme as before it. Murderers just used knives, arson, frying pans or whatever else came to hand instead.
I certainly am glad that we gained our independence from the UK through conferences and acts of parliament and settled important issues via referendums.

Former Senator. Getting that twat out of office was progress. He was so bad, there was a contest to come up with a neologism for his name. The winning entry defined santorum as "the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex".Tero wrote:Idiot senator hates gays and loves guns:
