The libertarian says that a lot of people have told him it's "the dumbest idea I've ever heard.” But he's standing by it.
For years, the gun lobby, led by the NRA, has pushed the idea that more guns make the world safer. Most recently this has manifested in the argument (endorsed by Donald Trump) that the answer to school shootings is armed teachers. But Brian Ellison is taking it one step further. Ellison is a Libertarian running for US Senate in Michigan, and though his third-party run is obviously hopeless, he drew some media attention this week for his plan to, uh, hand out pump-action shotguns to Michigan’s homeless population...

The 3% that own 50% of all guns are starting to fear the 97% that own 0 or 1 guns.

Our rally was organized by high school students: city permits for blocked street etc. Publicity was only by Facebook. 500-1000 showed up. University students only put together our starting point and some guides to do traffic duty.

In all honesty does anyone think it is going to change anything. Even the NRA are claiming with 300 million weapons the tide could never be turned back.
I agree. It is all very nice and plenty of people would have had a feel good moment. All the NRA will do is dig deeper into its very deep pockets and give the Congress and Senate a Spring Bonus. Or am I being too cynical?
