How close is America to armed insurrection and civil war?

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-05-01/ ... s/12205586
Dozens of protesters, some of them heavily armed, have occupied the capitol building of the US state of Michigan to demand an end to coronavirus stay-at-home orders.

Many at the so-called 'American Patriot Rally' ignored state social-distancing guidelines as they packed inside the state's capitol building and the area surrounding it on Thursday (local time).

What a stupid language English is! I have a blind for this sort of thing. I did a course of speed reading when at school. I just look at the shape of words not which letters there are. Your words are also unravelling. :hehe:

Michigan is pretty hard core. Detroit and the urban areas are solidly Democrat, but the rest are huntin' fishin' shootin' rednecks. They've got quite a well funded militia movement. If shooting breaks out it won't be from the Southerners.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

And slippery slopes always have a gentle incline at the top.

The question remains why a few dozen people grabbed so many headlines, and who organised the gun-totting protest for the same day that Michigan doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers planned to demonstrate at the same location under the banner 'PPE not Profit'.
... Yet while organisers claim the protests are grassroots- and people-driven, a closer look reveals a movement driven by traditional rightwing groups, including one funded by the family of Trump’s education secretary, Betsy DeVos.

The rallies have drawn comparisons to the Tea Party movement, which sprang into life in 2009 following the election of Barack Obama and was driven in part by Americans for Prosperity, a group founded by rightwing donors Charles and David Koch.

As with the Tea Party, the anti-stay-at-home movement has been promoted by a rightwing media eager for the economy to reopen, including Fox News which on Friday aired a segment on protests in Virginia, Michigan and Minnesota. Two minutes later, Trump tweeted to his 77.4 million followers the need to “liberate” those states...

Yeah, businesses are losing money and suddenly our freedom is at risk. We can have a discussion about reopening, it is needed, but as a nation we are unable to do it together. I mean ffs, imagine sitting at the table to discuss the best course of action and having a group of goons hootin' bout freedom! Okay, we all like freedom, now about how best to manage this crisis... "freedom!" --that's the plan I guess :nono:

Michigan State Police investigators are looking into reports that a Flint dollar store security guard was fatally shot Friday after an argument with a customer who refused to wear a mask in the store.

The 43-year-old guard was shot in the head at about 2:15 p.m. Friday at the Family Dollar store at 877 Fifth Ave. He later died in an area hospital.

He'll probably get off, since it's the right of any American to shoot someone for telling them what to do... :tea:
