From your lips to God's ears...
still rather trust them putting a fire out than I trust me. Same with the police.
That's because you are willfully ignorant of how to take care of yourself. I not only know how to thwart crime I also know how to set a hose lay and put out a fire...among many other skills I've learned because I believe in taking care of myself and not being a leech and drain on society through abysmal ignorance.
I put my life in many people's hands every day , I have to trust whoever made my food knows hygiene,
I have to trust the bus driver can drive, living near an airport I have to trust the many 100's of pilots above my head do their job as well. They are quite simply more capable of keeping me alive than I am
Indeed. But it's not really their job to keep you alive, it's their job to do their job, and that's no excuse for you not doing what you are capable of doing by way of not demanding that other people take care of you. Nor do I put full trust in anyone. I pay attention to the cleanliness of the restaurant and I avoid salad bars, I sit where I can watch the bus driver to make sure he doesn't fall asleep when I can and I'm prepared to wake him up or take control of the bus...or the airplane...should the pilot/driver become suddenly incapacitated.

The notion that you can just drift uselessly through life expecting other people to take care of you is a fantasy that will get you killed one day...with any luck.

Everyone puts their life in the hands of others, every day. Other drivers, pilots, cops, firefighters, etc. But that's no excuse for not taking as much responsibility for your own safety as you can. If a fire started in my kitchen I'd call the fire department, but I'd also grab the extinguisher. If someone breaks into my home I'll call the cops, but I'll also grab a gun. If the boat breaks down 20 miles offshore I'll call SeaTow, but I'll also get out the toolkit and start working on it. If it starts sinking I'll call the Coast Guard after I break out the raft.

It's foolish to place blind faith in the "authorities".
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Evidently it's not obvious to Jonno. Or a lot of other dependent class fuckwits who expect other people to pay for their needs and take care of them.

Me, to a Zimerman fanatic elsewhere, who wants SYG to prevent most cases or send them all to a grand jury:

So you need to fix a faulty system with a SYG law that lets off most shooters whether the opponent was armed or not? That puts the non-gun owner at a disadvantage. And some end up needlessly dead. Due to the fact that the gun owner is the only judge of the seriousness of the threat.

Put it up as a campaign issue in Florida. You'll see how the average folk feel about SYG.

Stand your ground. You are not required to retreat. You can respond to a threat such as "i'm gonna kill you" by shooting.

So Castle law even away from home... cool... unless you're caught weaponless by a violent gun nut.

It's not the "gun nuts" you need to worry about genius. More bigotry as usual.

It's the criminals you have to worry about. And often times the police.

Not the "gun nut" with a wife and children and a home who has much to lose and would avoid any confrontation whenever possible.

Is that gun nut that is most likely to kill his wife and kids, not some random 'hand invader'
When only criminals carry guns the police know exactly who to shoot!

"Hand invader?" That's a new one.

Why the fuck would you want to kill your own wife and children?

Where do you come up with this sick shit?

Sounds like you've got some real issues inside you, you're going to have to deal with. In fact, you should seek therapy immediately.

I might have to notify the authorities to your potential violent behavior.

I meant as far as the law goes. Obviously if there is no law at all, the gun is best.
