I think you'll find that every one of those victims of tyrannical oppression would disagree with you and that not one of them went to their death willingly because they believed that the aristocracy had a right to dispose of their lives by whim and caprice. That's why, don't you see, that despotic monarchs claim the authority of God to do so and it's also why they strive to keep the lumpen proletariat disarmed, cowed and under control using the tactics of terror you refer to.

And that's precisely why the Founders of the United States forbade the government from infringing on the right to keep and bear arms of each and every individual in the United States, so that such a tyranny could never take hold here.
Why does the united states have the most people per 100,000 in prison? Are they victims of tyrannical oppression? Surely this is the governments way of disarming and using tactics of terror is it not? Would you unlock the doors to every cell in the USA?

It would appear your country does a far better job than a monarchy in controlling it's citizens with threats and "tactics of terror"

Then you agree the state doesn't have the right to impose the death penalty upon citizens regardless of crime then yes? You actively campaign against the death penalty do you? or...?

I am totally, 100% in favour of good human rights. But they are not innate, or natural, or 'god given'. They are artificial constructs. Very desirable artificial constructs, to be sure.
So, if your society decides that you and your Atheist ilk are a detriment to social order, revokes your right to life and commands that you be tortured to death, you're okay with that? You wouldn't resist or complain or object? You'd just say "well, the collective issues my right to life so the collective can take it away whenever it likes" and go willingly to the torture chamber?

I hardly think so.
What's that got to do with the point he's making? Where do you pull this stuff from?

Without a civilized society you have no rights, it's simple. That's the end of it. That's the bottom line fact of the matter.

If you don't agree then go to somewhere that doesn't enforce our human rights through the rule of law and democratic government. Go to a tin pot little African country with no enforced laws, piss off the natives, then complain they are infringing your natural rights when they try to scalp you and see what good it does.
The best list of human rights is that declared by the United Nations. The 'right to bear arms' is most conspicuous by its absence, and exists only as a weirdness of the USA. No other nation, out of the roughly 200 that exist, is stupid enough to erect such a destructive and horrible "human right". Only the USA.
Which is why the UN Declaration of Human Rights is a fundamentally corrupt and flawed document. Add just one thing: the right of each and every law-abiding individual to keep and bear individual arms equal to or exceeding in function and effectiveness those issued to soldiers and it would be a great document. As it stands, it's a charter of slavery and nothing more
No.. it's why the USA is a fundamentally corrupt and flawed country. Among many other reasons.

You are, quite simply, a lunatic.

You do realize with your retarded little statement there is literally only 3 options. Option 1, you have just given every single person in the entire world regardless of political or religious following, including everyone in North Korea, Iran, Palestine, Israel, Ukraine, Russia, Crimea, Egypt, Iraq and Afghanistan to name but a few, a nuclear missile a B-52 bomber a nuclear submarine and a Nimitz class aircraft carrier busting to the seams with aircraft and assorted weaponry. If we're lucky the human race might just make it to lunch time on Sunday before we become extinct

Option 2. Reduce every military back to muskets, canons and crossbows so that they can be made affordable to every person on the planet as per your request.

Option 3 is complete and utter unilateral world peace and total disarmament of every army in every country in the world followed by destruction of every single weapon and gun ever manufactured. Congratulations Seth you just won the nobel peace prize.

Everything other than the above 3 options, according to Seths ridiculously bastardized and insulting definition of the word, is slavery.

I think snow leopard is getting a bit carried away with the obscenities, but his main point is correct.

Human rights are not innate or 'natural' or given by God. They are simply what is permitted by the powers that be at the time.
There's a good little Marxist useful idiot demonstrating how effective Marxist propaganda and indoctrination is.
Reality isn't Marxist propaganda Seth.
Sadly, all over the planet, it is.

Not if you employ Seth's definition of Marxism. I believe he has called Obama a Marxist on more than one occasion. Not only is Obama still alive, but he is the head of The Greatest Nation On Earth.

I did not actually have you in mind. It's mainly Seth and Blind Groper. Their exchange resembles two Jabberwacky styled software packages interacting and getting stuck in some loop ad infinitem.

Fair comment, Jim.

While I like having people agree with me (hey, I am human too!), I am a bit disquieted when that agreement comes so loaded with unnecessary verbal baggage.

They offer a little take-away from that story:
This story makes five important points:

The person who saved the victim’s life was a civilian with a Concealed Carry Permit.
The person who held the suspect at gunpoint until the police arrived was that civilian.
Dispels opinions that permit holders are trigger-happy gun-nuts who can’t wait to shoot.
Dispels thoughts that victims should count on the police to be there when they need them.
Concealed Permit Holders should not be barred from businesses with their guns.
Since it says "makes" five points instead of "proves" them, I won't split hairs about it being just an anecdote.

Oh, it's very much alive and well, you are just unwilling to acknowledge its influences on modern society. Let's ask Venezuelans for example how Marxism is providing them with flour and toilet paper....
