The government is the puppet of capitalism. In order to rein it in you'll have to destroy the power of the greedy fucks that pull the strings. Good luck trying. The only way to do that is by liquidating their useful idiots. Start at the top of the footsoldier hierarchy - libertarians, then spread out to neutralising tea party activists, religious fundamentalists and any other prominent right wing nutters. They are the bulwark of governmental abuse. Deprived of it, middle management will become ineffective and the evil government unable to do anything at all. We'll be free of capitalist oppression at last.

We need to devolve authority back to the states. A weak federal government would be less likely to engage in the military adventurism that has characterized the late 20th and early 21dt centuries. People would be free to move to a state that more closely matched their political philosophies. Liberal, like government intervention in private life, want income equality etc? Try New York, California, Oregon. Like guns, hate taxes, don't want to pay for other people's cell phones? Come to Florida or Tennessee. Places like North Carolina and Virginia fall somewhere in between. Quit trying to make every peg round.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

You'll just get the same shit on a smaller scale. At the behest of the rich and powerful the states will wage war on each other.

In principle smaller scales increases the odds if you are coming into battle with disadvantage as a sidekick. The point isn't to win against the 1%, it is to negotiate a better deal....the 1% will be with you always no matter which system is the name of the game in town.

Momo TeaBillies go ballistic over loss of taxpayer subsidy

Post by piscator » Sun Apr 13, 2014 8:57 pm

Millionaire cattle business grazing free on Public Land, drapes itself in Gadsen Flag and turns out owner's extended Momo clan and all interested Ruby Ridge groups when Federal land managers move to evict cattle:

http://abcnews.go.com/US/nevada-cattle- ... d=23302610

Facts:
Cliven Bundy (& his heirs and assigns) holds title to ~22 acres of land
Cliven Bundy grazes his cows for his own profit on Public Land, and does not pay grazing fees. The US taxpayer feeds Cliven Bundy's cows. Cliven Bundy then sells the cows and pockets the $$. :FIO:
Cliven Bundy feels his family's historic agreement with the other Mormon settlers, as he interprets it, supersedes the Property Clause of the US Constitution as well as any statehood Enabling Acts.
Cliven Bundy feels that even though his family could have easily and cheaply obtained title to vast acreages before they were withdrawn from Entry under various homestead, ranching, and mining Acts, he has a right to have the US taxpayer support his way of life by virtue of some right of preemption (aka "First Refusal") granted under his family's historic for-profit agreement with other ranchers in the area. The courts have rejected these arguments.
The US Bureau of Land Management serves as agents for the owner of the land and graze in question, all US Citizens. The BLM are, in effect, landlords moving to evict a squatter who has committed the tort of trespass against the citizens of the US, for his company's profit.
Nevada was admitted to the Union in 1864, so the "Federalness"" of the lands in question predates 1870.

Bundy doesn't own the land he runs his cows on.
Bundy doesn't sell his beef at any particular discount because the taxpayers feed his cows for him, so he doesn't deserve any special treatment in regard to his trespass on my lands. The government will get their $$ and my land back without going Waco on these redneck ass clowns.

Who's trespassing and how? That's the point of the commons. Nobody owns it, including teh gummit. We all own it, and you have just as much right to graze your cattle on it as anyone else. Or did, until the money-hungry capitalists in office saw a chance to rake in some hard cash out of it. "get their money back"? How was it ever rightfully theirs? Also, Bundy doesn't set the market price for beef any more than any other cattle rancher. I can't see why grazing his cattle on public lands would lower their value.

This doesn't belong in the gun club. It's not about guns. It's Politics and Current Affairs. What's with the desire to stuff everything out of sight here???

It's not called The Commons, it's called US Public Land, and for a long time now if you intend to run your cows on Public Land for your own personal gain, you have to pay to [somewhat partially] offset the damage your livestock causes to the owners of that land which you don't hold title to (me, and every other US Citizen).
The trespass is the same as if I cut your fence and ran 1000 head of my cows on your rye grass pasture. :naughty:
