Japan is absolutely notorious in LE circles for vigorously and carefully concealing violent crime statistics to make it look like it's all peaceful and junk, but they have street gangs and thugs just like every other culture does. And they have guns, despite their draconian laws against them. Go figure.

Apart from anything else, it is a stupid notion that racially and culturally homogenous societies are peaceful. Ireland was for long periods racially and culturally homogenous, and our culture was for very long periods a military culture, with constant war.
