You're confusing Communism with State Capitalism.

Did you not read that in Politics 101?
To be fair, it's not easy to think of a communist government in history that is preferable to live in rather than even basket cases like the US of A.

The nearest I can think of are the European social-democrat governments of the 50's and 60's where the welfare state offered support from the cradle to the grave.
