Except in ancient Rome, the bread they were talking about was free. The Emperors feared that unless they provided free games and free bread the rabble would rebel. They sometimes did too!

..which leads one to ask - are we paying to keep ourselves enslaved and more or less brain dead out of our own pockets!?

Indirectly yes.

You pay to access content through your service provider. Thus you pay to post content here and read it.

Now think of this. How much time do you spend reading and posting content and is is VFM?

Good that we are finally talking about The Spectacle though.

I don't spend much. I upload posts when I have 50-100 ready to go. (Every hour or so.)

Do you just fire them into threads at random and hope for the best?

It was more a general you than you personally though.

Random post generator app. I supply the material (can't find a "Are You Fucking NUTS?" app for that.)

Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late

Turn stone to bread, said Daemon Duncetan
Turn stone to bread right away...

There will be circus enough, but free bread, I doubt so
