"Saved" :biggrin:

I know we had a thread on this general topic before, and I can't resist re-posting this:

Imgfit is our friend. :mod:

I got to watch a low-level extract one time. Herky came in at about 250 mm and a chute popped out. The Herky gave birth to a M-60 in midair.

I was expecting you to notice the, erm, issue with that pic (and it's not 'shopped).

Whoa! An M-60 is much too heavy for a Herc to carry. Are you sure it wasn't a Sheridan?

Other than the pilots are to scale with the plane I see "little" wrong with it.

Beats me, I'm a swabbie. :dunno: Hell, it could have been a Starlifter. (Stars weigh more than M-60s, right?)

I was just thinking about this myself. I know the C-5 Galaxy could hold two M-60s, but even one might have been too much for a C-141. An M-60 might have been too bulky anyway:
In service, the C-141 proved to "bulk out" before it "massed out", meaning that it often had additional lift capacity that went wasted because the cargo hold was too full.

Anyway, as for a C-141 flying low to the ground ... can you imagine the shit going into the engine fans? :panic:

BTW, I just found this site:
