Actually, in retrospect it might not have been such a good idea to cross La Manche and take over that green and pleasant land.

England might have remained somewhat backward if it had remained relatively isolated from continental affairs. Just a thought.

In my defence, I had to get up at 4am this morning, then drive 200 miles and do a full days work. And I've got a rotten cold and this underwear is too tight and you should have said "anniversary of" and the Normans were vikings anyway and so on and so forth.
