Then they moved Sandy V, Gawddamn and Cuntish in to keep control of the place. Imperialist bastards.Coito ergo sum wrote:I've always found it humorous when Brits scoff at "manifest destiny" when they made precisely the same westward advance to the Pacific and in fact took more acreage of land in the process than the Americans did. Seems a bit ironic that a country that held more people under colonial subjugation than other other would feel itself in any position to moralize, expressly or impliedly, on this topic. One would think a concise apology to the world would be in order instead.

Oh we have got sick of apologising ,we are well aware that the empire did horrible things and we too can raise a rout like Dunkirk to heroic status .Coito ergo sum wrote:I've always found it humorous when Brits scoff at "manifest destiny" when they made precisely the same westward advance to the Pacific and in fact took more acreage of land in the process than the Americans did. Obviously the couple of campaigns in the Americas are not so much part of our national conciousness as they are yours ,we had bigger fish to fry .
And I hope it has been obvious through this thread that this is all friendly banter ?

Bad route to take. Spain was "the sick man of Europe" at the time.Coito ergo sum wrote:You mean the Spanish Empire?Feck wrote:Freedom freedom now let's invade Canada oops Fail maybe we could take an appropriate size enemy like the Philipines .

Sure - but, it's not as if we just fought "the Phillipines." And, who the fuck are the Brits to talk about taking on toughies -- like they didn't invade "Bermuda" and "The Cayman Islands," and crap like that. FFS...Gawdzilla wrote:Bad route to take. I still suffer from terrible nightmares about the Anglo-Zanzibar War. It packed a lot of horrors into its 40 minutes.

You folks were really brave when you took on the Zulu Empire. Those thatch shields and stone/rope/stick spears can be quite effective....
