Re: Yessiree that UK socialized medicine is great!

As a u.s. citizen and a permanent resident of the UK, I just want to say I love the NHS :cheer: Of course you do, because somebody else is paying for it. I pay for it. It comes out of my paycheck every month. Does it? Do you pay the complete cost of your care every month, or are you paying a fixed ...

Re: Yessiree that UK socialized medicine is great!

Why is it that if a doctor or medical facility in a country with socialized medicine acts badly it is the fault of the system? Yet, if a doctor or hospital in the US acts badly, it's just an example of a "bad" doctor or some money-grubbing bureaucrat with no compassion? I'm sure there is some perfe...

I think it would be worth knowing the average age and education level of the Twitter users in each state before accepting pronouncements about IQ based on tweets.

Re: When men were real men

There is a certain satisfaction that comes from being able to say "I did it!" Handing over one's credit card just doesn't give one the same feeling.

Re: When men were real men

What's the obsession with machismo ,ego and independence. There are professionals who did these tasks regularly and are going to be a lot better at it than you. Become good at profession yourself and earn enough to pay them to do it properly Why pay someone a fortune to fiddle with two or three scr...

Re: When men were real men

I'm not much good with engines, but I do know how to check fluid levels, hoses, belts, jump start a dead battery, and change a flat (although I don't know if I could physically do that anymore). There are some things you should just know how to do if you are going to own a vehicle. When I lived with...

The arthritis has ruled out anything that requires heavy lifting, but most small home repairs don't require that. It is amazing what you can do wi...

Re: All Dead By Morning

Meh. Death is one of the few certainties life. It comes to us all eventually. Actually, when my time comes, dying painlessly in my sleep would suit me just fine.
