Re: Favourite Pomes
Necro'd because I am really in love with this poem and need to show it to everyone: Persephone Lied The truth is, I was bored. My mother blissing ahead of me, rosebuds rising in her footsteps, And I skulking behind, thinking, Oh look. She walks in beauty. Again. Her power could boil rivers, if she c...

Re: Gunman Shooting at Dark Knight Rises Screening.
I was sad when I found out... mostly because I was at a premiere myself last night, came home, and was awake and blissfully remembering the movie unaware that this was happening at the same time. Movie theaters are where people go to suspend their belief, and let themselves be vulnerable to the emot...

Re: Favourite Pomes
It seems that no one has mention Algernon Charles Swinburne yet. I think he'd be appreciated here... This is my favourite poem, I have it memorized for recitation at will: [The Garden of Proserpine aka long poem earlier on this page] This is also one of my favorite poems. In Denvers Asylum wall was...

Re: Questionnaire (for atheists, but others are welcome too)
Thank you for the replies everyone! This is giving me a better sense of where to take this project. Replies posted after this post may not apply to what I'm working on (deadlines and such >.<) but I'll still read it because these are questions/answers that do interest me a lot, and I liked seeing re...

Re: Questionnaire (for atheists, but others are welcome too)
Thanks for the responses, everyone! Honestly I'm a little surprised at the differences between what you guys said and the people I know from school/town--here almost everyone is raised with some form of religion, and they (and I) have almost all been harassed about it in some point at school (one gi...

Questionnaire (for atheists, but others are welcome too)
I'm doing a project in school on atheism at the moment, and it would be really helpful if some of you could answer these questions for me--answers won't be included in my report/presentation directly, but I'd like some stories/opinions of people other than those I know directly or just reports I fin...

Re: Avatar
I loved it. I am a sucker for good graphics though and these were amazing--I just want to watch the scenes of the forest and all those awesome plants again and again (why yes I am biology nerd). Plot was eh, but I wasn't expecting it to be all that much. I was kind of disappointed the Na'vi were as ...

Re: Ice Hockey Fans - why is this good?
It's good because it is damn hard to pick a puck up like that while in motion and throw it without having it fall off/go somewhere unintended XD
Something like thought wouldn't ever work in a game, but it does take skill. I think all the "BEST GOAL EVER!!1!" is a bit overdone though.

I had just been wondering if anyone had put The Hollow Men up. I do love that poem. Here's a poem by Neil Gaiman I really like... The Day The Saucers Came Neil Gaiman That Day, the saucers landed. Hundreds of them, golden, Silent, coming down from the sky like great snowflakes, And the people of Ear...

Re: The size of our world
That last photo is stunning. His description sums up the awe I feel every time I look into the night sky and pause to think. Is it weird how comforting I find that? We are so insignificant, no matter how badly we fuck things up it'll all go on in the long run. The universe is so vast, so all-encompas...

Re: The size of our world
Very cool. The music was a nice touch. Once when my family visited the Museum of Science and Industry, I saw a video that started out looking at a family having a picnic, then slowly zoomed out to show the park, then the town, the area, the country, the earth, then the solar system, increasing in sp...

The Walkabouts--The Lights Will Stay On http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cE7wSrp0Wc4 I read part of their lyrics at the beginning of a chapter of one of my favourite books (Someplace to be Flying by Charles de Lint) and now I can't stop listening... "And when you bury me, add three feet to it One for ...
