Re: Dawkins Libel Case Update
Well congratulations, vjohn82, though I'm sorry about the loss of funds. It must feel good to be vindicated however. It feels good to finally have on record some of the things which I alleged in the first place! I hope authors in the future will see that the court's take a dim view of people promot...

Re: Dawkins Libel Case Update
Wasn't this case brought on after Dawkin's sued Josh Timonen? Has there been any resolution in that case yet? If not, I must say British courts work fast, it's either that or our courts are clogged with civil suits. Of course they are totally different types of cases, and libel ones are probably a ...

Re: Dawkins Libel Case Update
Nope... I get nothing. The author has already signalled that bankruptcy is looming and that an appeal is underway. The case is costing me a lot of money which I will never get back.Crumple wrote: You're rolling the money now son. Good luck with the next book?

Dawkins Libel Case Update
The claim was struck out against all defendants. The author who brought the action lost. My application to strike out the Claimant's case was accepted. My arguments concerning the Claimant's conduct were both accepted and highlighted. The Judgment is here: http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/QB/2012...

Re: Dawkins sued for libel
Wow. Interesting stuff. It was funny reading all of his criticisms earlier on in the case. It wouldn't have surprised me if his call to have me imprisoned was the seed which planted in the claimant's brain because the day before the final hearing that's exactly what happened.

Where's Seth anyway? He thought I should go to jail for some reason. I don't want to gloat too much but it seems I was vindicated.

Re: Dawkins sued for libel
I hope to be in a position to write a little on the case soon. But, in summary... The case was struck out. 60 pages of allegations and argument was narrowed down, by a Master of the Court, to 16 pages. This was then narrowed down to 4 or 5 sentences which the Judge found 'could' be libellous but for...

This is a media and hearing summary of the case: http://vjohn82libelcase.blogspot.com/2011/11/media.html
Feel free to read and comment (Seth can read, comment and generally spout abuse).
Judgment expected sometime in January.

A question I often revert to with the Mother in Law...Animavore wrote:Isn't this just one of those questions theists ask followed by a load of waffle ending in, "Because God"?
At which point the clever-clogs asks, "Why is there God rather than nothing"?

Have to agree.Seth wrote: What do I think? I think that America's actions in no way "set in motion" anything of the sort. We took out Saddam, the Muslims took that opportunity to oppress Christians, so it is they who "set in motion" those events.
