Except it was a mixture of spoof, parody, taboo breaking and deliberately border line offensive, not to mention slapstick so not sure if that counts!
Fair point.

Re: Why Isn't Communism Viewed As Negatively as Nazism?

Arguably the ideology of communism - its ultimate goal is a kind of social justice. It conceptualises a future society where production is for use, not profit, and there is free access to all that’s produced. Work would be entered into voluntarily and the resources of the world would be freely avai...

Re: 'Populism'.

I heard the same show and thought the people complaining were being pretty dumb. The definition of populism for me is the same as yours. I think it's also fair to describe some policies from mainstream parties as populist policies. The word populist can have negative connotations, but only because "...

Re: Windows Market Share

But it is true. Linux sucks for the end user. It is just not as well polished as Windows. I have tried multiple times to use some Linux desktop and always stumbled over something that just didn't work. It also doesn't look as polished as Windows. And then there are so many different variants. Try t...

Re: Pogromatic Stuff

Anyone ever read The Bickford Fuse, by Andrei Kurkov? It's tough going at times, and weird, but good. I think.

My favourite Kurkov book is probably Death and The Penguin, or maybe The Case of the General's Thumb.

I knew it was based on personal experience, but other than that, no.

I tried "We", but it was too turgid and slow. Needed more tits.
I read the first few chapters of Cancer Ward a couple of years ago, but didn't finish it. Mobile phones have destroyed my attention span, but I should finish it. It seemed like an excellent novel.

Pogromatic Stuff

Sorry, this was meant to be a parody, but the title got me thinking about One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich . It's one of my favourite books, though I haven't read it for years. I've always liked Russian fiction, but embarrassingly still haven't got round to reading Crime and Punishment, though...

Re: What are you reading now? (Chapter 2)

I just finished reading Ready Player One. It's not particularly well written, but it is a great story. It's like Black Mirror meets D&D in the 80s. Not well written in a Dan Brown or Fifty Shades of Gray or just not as bad as that? Want to pick it up as I'm in the mood for something light. Not as b...

I read the book this week. It's not great literature, but it's an excellent story that could transfer well to film. I hope they do it justice.

Yes and no. People do keep them as pets, but they can be a handful.
