I'd rather be a pussy, a US/NK war will drag China in, that would be the start of WWIII, and I want to die in a peaceful world.
China will come in on the US side. They can keep North Korea, as long as the puppet they install stays nuke free.

Re: The Shadow of Munich Haunts the Iran Negotiations

It's not arrogant when we have the power to turn them into a grease spot and stand to lose if they screw things up. It's not arrogance for a gang leader to forbid one underling from jacking trucks in the South Side, and another from peddling dope on the West Side, it's a function of power, and with...

Re: Putin

Is there generally a suspicion in the UK press that Putin is dead? The concept hasn't penetrated the U.S. press at all, but then, the U.S. press misses things all the time.

Re: France objects to Waterloo euro coin

Perhaps a Euro coin commemorating the genocide of the Neanderthals? All the ancestors of modern Europeans participated, with the odd bit of miscegenation thrown in... I have my doubts about that. I think the Neanderthals were starved to near extinction by climate change and then the few that were l...

Re: Federalism and state's rights

US Federalism died when through Judicial fiat the bill of rights was applied to the States, something that was never intended. It's application almost totally gutted the protections State's enjoyed from Federal encroachment guaranteed by the tenth amendment that separated Federal and State power. h...

Doesn't seem like it would be fundamentally more difficult than doing it with dogs.

Re: It just gets better and better for gun owners

Don't ever use the, "it's what's best for society" or for the "greater good of civilized society" arguments because they are bullshit. It's "what's best for society" IN YOUR OPINION. That's it. It's a fucking worthless argument. And that's your opinion. Well no fucking shit it is. I never said that...

Re: Islamic State

Here in New Zealand, the decision has just been made to send a contingent of our rather limited armed forces to Iraq to assist in the fight against IS. My question to everyone is this. Is it justified to go to war against this entity? Even though I am more pacifist than hawk, I am inclined to feel ...

Re: Social turmoil on its way?

There wasn't anything opened up by new technologies. Anything that was opened up was opened up by the availability of labor.

Re: Social turmoil on its way?

Kind of like the industrial revolution eliminated 99% of jobs. What do that 99% without jobs do today, anyway? I know what you are getting at, although it was nowhere near 99%. You are saying that new technologies at the time created new jobs as well as eliminating old ones. Quite the contrary. The...

Re: Doctor wouldn't care for baby with 2 moms

Actually, what we worked out 40 years ago was that it was bad for the barman to have to say, "sorry, the law says we can't serve blacks here". Even today, private clubs are allowed to discriminate on whatever basis they wish, but without government support for discrimination, it hardly ever happens ...
