Re: We are THE enemy! :woot:

Outside world's sex and consumerism? Big threat. Their own leaders' sex and consumerism? Small threat.

Yeah, these people have balanced priorities...

Robots used to test kin selection (successfully)

http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2011/05/robot-altruism/ Robots in a Swiss laboratory have evolved to help each other, just as predicted by a classic analysis of how self-sacrifice might emerge in the biological world. “Over hundreds of generations … we show that Hamilton’s rule always accurately p...

Re: Gender Detection Software To Nail The Fakes

Anybody willing to believe a 63.2 per cent probability given by a dubious gender checking program over a human being that appears to have all the information and no obvious reason to lie is an idiot who wo...

Re: "My reason for not believing Evolution."

I still don't understand how some people's belief in evolution can be so woefully confused as to invent such problems. It can only be on purpose.

Re: Free to Be Me Childrearing

Do women want to ride the motorbikes and get dirty? In my experience, they don't. Yes, you are correct. It is because they are genetically preprogrammed to dislike motorbikes and getting dirty. Sarcasm aside, it would be a more fundamental difference that extends to such things. One might also snee...

It's where I get all my science from. Now that's just sad. I love this show (Amy is THE GREATEST!), but its... low-level approach to science and geek culture annoys me. It takes Sheldon, an accomplished physicist, days to remember that moving particles interact as waves? Really? Men their age discu...

Re: Free to Be Me Childrearing

Gallstones, I can relate to that. Even though I don't have brothers, I grew up in close contact with my first cousins (all 15 of them, both from my mom's and my dad's side), and the different expectations were very apparent especially during the long summer months at the family summer place. I espe...

Possibly, but there's no reason to assume others without evidence, and we don't have anything backing up the differences commonly assumed in our culture.

Hasn't this thing been out for years?

It won't work; women will just be killed for trying to defend themselves. But it's an improvement in the sponge razor thing.

Re: Free to Be Me Childrearing

I am of the opinion that boys and girls are generally born with certain differences. I think that it is apparent behaviorally with toy choices, how boys and girls play together, and the like. There is no such thing as genderless. I have to disagree. There's no reason to assume inherent gender dimor...
